1976 Honda CB400F Restoration Project
Road TestThe best Honda yet! Quoted a 1975 Motor Cycle reporter. I have included some RVF400 stats in brackets for comparison to a modern machine. 0-60 6.7 seconds Standing 1/4 mile 14.7 seconds, terminal speed 93MPH (12.6 seconds, 109MPH) Stopping distance at 30MPH 29 feet Speed in gears - 1st 4 min 35 max, 2nd 6 min 52 max, 3rd 8 min 68 max, 4th 11 min 86 max, 5th 13 min 98 max, 6th 15 min 104 max Speedo accuracy - 30 = 28.5, 40 = 37, 50 = 47.5, 60 = 56.6, 70 = 65.7, 80 = 76.7, 90 = 87.8, 100 = 97.5 Fuel consumption - over 100 at 30MPH, 74 at 56MPH & 55 at 70MPH (Average 42) BHP - 37 at 8,500RPM (60 at 12,500RPM) Torque - 3.2Kg-m at 7,500RPM (3.7Kg-m at 10,000RPM) After my full nut & bolt restoration it started first time! Immediately the memories came flooding back from the exhaust note alone. I hopped aboard and the only failing I could come up with was the general transmission backlash. Conversions to Kilometres & Litres One imperial gallon is 4.546 litres One mile is 1.62 kilometres |
